Full Details

I first encountered the Wrigely Lofts back in the mid '90s when I was working as an administrator at REMAX Hallmark's Pape office. We had heard about loft spaces in South Riverdale now called Leslieville that were being sold "raw". This was the first hard loft that I had encountered in Toronto and I was in love with the huge spaces and high ceilings, which are 14 feet tall in this building. Zoning for this building is currently live/work so you can legally set up a business and work from your loft. The lofts because of the huge windows have been very popular with local photographers who can have a photoshoot in the morning and then retire to their loft in the evening.

This building was formerly a factory owned by William Wrigley Jr Company probably most famous for its chewing gum.

The initial offering of these loft spaces was at $110 per square foot and what you got was plumbing and electricity roughed into your specifications. It wasn't until 1999 that these lofts started to appear on the resale market with many of them having been converted to amazing living spaces. The first unit to sell on the resale market sold for $136,000 in May 1999. It was 815 square feet; about $167 per square foot - a 52% increase from the original offering.

As of December 2009, units at the Wrigley Lofts are selling in a wide range as size of units is quite varied. Prices range from $325,000 to $510,000
